Hopefully, this won't be necessary for anyone else though. Removing the datapathfix didn't help, so I had to do a clean install.

However, it should be mentioned that I did have to completely reinstall DAI at one point because when I retried the datapathfix recommended in a few places, it made my DAI ridiculously laggy. This is because I cut out all the trial and error. I'll reply to this comment with what I did once I've typed it up for the sake of anyone who finds this thread via google in the future.ĭisclaimer: The process I'm sharing here is a MASSIVELY simplified version of what my sixteen-step trial-and-error testing was. Now I've just got Frosty to fix again lol.Įdit3: I fixed Frosty (well, actually it was the bloody EA App all along) and my game seems fully-functional! I haven't played it beyond a quick test because it's almost midnight here now and I'm tired af, but it seems to work just as I remembered. EA app and DAI should be able to launch again.Find "EABackgroundService" and End Task (Right click on it -> End Task).Go to Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete, select Task Manager).I found my solution here, but in case anyone finds this in the future and the link doesn't work: This issue was undoubtedly what was causing DAI's launch to fail even on vanilla if the EA app can't launch, neither can the game. What I found was that if I closed the EA app completely, it would fail to launch again. What.Įdit2: Solution for vanilla game not launching. It feels like I'm bashing my head against a sheet of paper, but instead of it shredding it's giving me a concussion.Įdit: Okay, now I can't even boot it vanilla. I'll take literally any suggestion at this point. The only other solution I've seen suggested was deleting this LaunchPlatformPlugin.dll, but it doesn't even exist on my PC! I thought completely uninstalling Frosty (including the files in Appdata) and re-adding the mods would help, but it didn't help in the slightest. If I just booted DAI with that one fbmod it worked just fine, but any other mod and it doesn't work at all. I hadn't played in ages and wanted to test an fbmod I'd made that same day. It's really frustrating, because I thought I'd fixed it just by updating to the latest version of Frosty. Weirdly, the changes stayed after I put the original back in place. dll replacement, all it did was make all this happen faster. If I have a Steam window up during this, I can see the game run for like 2 seconds before stopping again. There's a pause where nothing's happening, then the EA app pops back up exactly as it would after exiting a game.

EA app says it's preparing the game, then its window closes. When I press "Launch" on Frosty, it comes up with a small window I can't read because Frosty itself minimises a split second after it appears. I know this is a couple months old now, but I don't suppose you have a solution for someone who doesn't have a LaunchPlatformPlugin.dll to delete, do you? I mean, I have one, but it's in Frosty Editor not the MM and so obviously, deleting it did nothing (believe me, I tried anyway). I still get " (WARNING) Custom Mods Directory does not exist, using default instead" in my logs but it doesn't seem to matter. Thank you Tierce! I'm not 100% sure it's actually necessary to download the new plugin or if just deleting the launchplatform plugin is enough.if you're worried about downloading an unfamiliar link, try just deleting the plugin first (back it up somewhere first). Now when I launch from Frosty, it launches without issue, with the mods intact! I replaced it anyway, and followed the other instruction to go into plugins and delete the LaunchPlatformPlugin.dll. The link Tierce provided is just FrostyModSupport.dll - which is already in the FrostyModManager folder. Launching from Frosty either didn't do anything, or sometimes I would get 'waiting for platform' and 'waiting for ' responses that froze Frosty.

I looked all over the place for a solution, i had to reinstall frosty AND MEA, and it just made the problem worse-I could launch the game from Steam or the EA App and sometimes the mods would work and sometimes they wouldn't. previously I used FrostyFix and Datapathfix but they stopped working recently. I'm playing Mass Effect Andromeda, not DAI, but still using Frosty and still having problems getting Frosty to launch. Ok, so I'm going to share my experience, hope it helps people who are having trouble.
